Larinum (mod. Larino), a city on the northern border of Daunia (see daunians). There was a substantial pre-Roman settlement. Larinum became a Roman ally (see socii), then a municipium in 89 bce. It was a centre of the wool trade, and its municipal politics are unusually well known (Cic. Clu.).
